Built in 1889 the Starrett House is a Victorian masterpiece. George Starrett built this 11 bedroom, 10 bath home for his wife Ann. The rare free hung staircase that winds up the 70 foot tower culminates in a dome with frescoes of images of maidens representing the four seasons, including a near naked winter, and the four virtues. The floor plan is like a wedding cake with the floors replicating rooms, alcoves and porches stacked on each layer. These architectural wings bring more light into the house and provide views of the water, mountains and the picturesque town of Port Townsend, WA.
Located in the heart of Port Townsend, walking distance to Uptown, Downtown, parks and beaches. Currently the owners are renting out the 5 rooms on the middle floor and use the top and ground floor for themselves. In addition the top floor can be rented out as a family suite with 2 bedroom, 1 bath and an alcove with twin beds. The ground floor has rented out the 4 bedrooms; 2 bedrooms have their own baths, the other 2 bedrooms share a hall bath.
The owners closed the B&B during the COVID lockdown and are now open to vaccinated guests. As soon as they opened, they were flooded with bookings. People love staying in an historic home with so many stories, and they have repeat customers. The building and spacious rooms are gorgeous with fine woodworking, frescoes and antique furnishings.
Mixed feelings- love Innkeeping, but need to give their two young children more attention.
