The Art of the Deal

Donald Trump scored his 10-guest room B&B (rooms start at $270), in Virginia’s wine country south of Charlottesville, for pennies on the dollar. After first purchasing 217 acres surroundingĀ  Albermarle House, former home of John and Patricia Kluge, for less than $500,000 in January 2011, Trump purchases the 776-acre Kluge vineyard for $6.2 million, plus $1.7 million in equipment and inventory in May of the same year. In October 2012, Trump finally buys Albermarle House on 22 acres for $6.7 million dollars. Advantaged by recently relaxed local lodging bylaws, Trump opens Albermarle Estate as a bed and breakfast in May 2015. www.trumphotels.com
